PRESS: Tom Spurgeon interviews me about the show at The Comics Reporter, plus, the LA Daily News weighs in!

Also, my friend and colleague, Geoff (Jetpack Jr.) Grogan, shares his thoughts on designing the fantastic mural of Orion and Darkseid that looms over the exhibition. Thank you, Geoff—it’s a wonder. I’m thrilled to have your work in this show!

Countdown: T-Minus 2

Comic Book Apocalypse: The Graphic World of Jack Kirby opens at the CSU Northridge Main Gallery in just two days—this Monday, Aug. 24. It will be up for seven weeks, through Sunday, Oct. 10, and open the following hours:

Monday-Saturday, 12:00 noon to 4:00pm (closed Sunday)

Thursday, 12:00 noon to 8:00pm

The opening reception will take place a week from today, on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 4:00 to 7:00pm. This reception will involve no lecture or panel, just folks getting together to bask in the art. The reception is free and open to the public!

Then, on Monday, Aug. 31, at 10:00 to 11:00am, Kirby biographer Mark Evanier will join me for a gallery talk about Kirby’s life and work. Again, this is a free, public event, open to all!

Art and Design Center, CSUN

How to get to the show? The Art Galleries are located on the north end of the CSUN campus, within the Art and Design Center on North University Dr. (Plummer St.) between Lindley and Etiwanda Street. Park in Lot D6 and E6, which are very close to the Galleries. Parking is $6/day, 24/7.

Countdown: Extra!

Extra! Extra! The Los Angeles Times‘ Carolina Miranda has written a nice shout-out for our exhibition in her arts Datebook—alongside an exhibition on urban living at the Architecture and Design Museum and a screeening of avant-garde films by Saul Levine. That’s pretty cool company! Glad to be on the radar.

This calls for an extra countdown teaser. I here present:
